Fancy February

STUDENT OF THE MONTH – George is funny, thoughtful and caring.  When he is playing outside he likes to run, play tag and swing on the swings.  Inside the classroom he likes to build with blocks, make spinners, dance and rock out. 

 

THEMESMachines – Magnets – Gravity – Maps

SHOW-N-TELL – (Must be small enough to fit in their desk or book bag)  No weapons.  I allow the children to bring in an item that they like to share. It does not need to be theme based.

LANGUAGE ART – We will be identifying our upper and lower case letters S s, T t, and U u, as well as learning how to write the letters independently while learning what the letter sounds are and learning words that start with those letters.  Locating and identifying periods, exclamation marks, and question marks.  We will practice our rhyming words. (freestyle).  

MATH – We will learn how to count to 100 by 5′s.  Number recognition 50 – 100.  Heart – identify and draw.  Counting backwards from 12 to 0.  Counting objects using one to one correspondence.  Ordering numbers with and with out a number line.  Money/Coins – Identify and know value of penny, nickel, dime, and quarter.  

SCIENCE – Machines – Introducing wheel and axle, pulley, and inclined plane (ramp).  Magnets – We will discuss different types of metal.  Gravity – Gravity holds everything close to this planet.  What are germs and reviewing proper hand washing and blowing your nose.   

SOCIAL STUDIES – Maps – What is a map and how do we use one?  Reviewing days of the week and months of the year.  We will learn about our four seasons and the type of weather that comes with each.
