Language Arts: We are going to be learning about the “th” sound, short vowel U, and the “ng” sound. The students will also be making the books Barnyard Song, It Ain’t Gonna Rain, and Skip to My Lou. We will be working on the nursery rhyme Hickory Dickory Dock in preparation for our partner read with the preschool students. Our partner reads have been very successful. The students in E4 read to the preschoolers and then do a small craft with them. It is helping the students to share what they have learned with the “littles.” They do an awesome job of being responsible and helping others learn through reading and art.
Math: This month we are really going to be learning a lot about place value. The students are also playing new math games to help them learn about the terms greater than and less than. December is also when we start learning more about telling time. The students will be learning to read both digital and analog clocks.
Science: DINOSAUR MONTH! This month something magical happens in our classroom. The dinosaurs come to life! Each night after the building closes, the dinosaurs come alive and usually get themselves into trouble in the classroom. The student’s get very excited each morning to see what the dinosaurs have gotten themselves into. Please help keep the magic alive. Imagination is something so easily forgotten as a child grows up. This month the magic of the holidays becomes exciting as mystery unfolds. We will be learning about dinosaurs this month, making this not just a fun time, but also educational.
Social Studies: We are going to be learning about Christmas. We will be talking about the history of Christmas and the true meaning for celebration. We are going to be decorating for the holidays and talking about other December holidays as well.
