Our Annual Halloween Festival is being held on Friday, October 27th. We invite you to spend the day with your child enjoying games, a catered chili lunch, Halloween costume parade, and Halloween classroom parties. The activities will begin at approximately 8:45 am and the students will rotate through the stations until 11:00 am. At 11:00, the preschool building, and E1 and E3 will begin lunch. P1, P2, and P3 will eat in their classrooms; E1 and E3 will eat in the lunchroom downstairs. E2 and E4 will have lunch at 11:45 in the preschool lunchroom. We’d love for each student to bring their family for lunch; however, we only have room for 2 guests per child. You may pick up a form to RSVP from the office. This year we are offering a meatless chili option as well as the hamburger chili. If you would like to have lunch with your child that day, please fill out a form indicating your chili preference, how many guests will be attending (up to 2), and provide the payment to the office no later than Friday, October 13th.

The teachers will be walking the children from class to class, so we are asking for parents to help us run the games. If you are interested in volunteering some of your time, please see your child’s teacher or the office to sign up for volunteer times. We are looking for several volunteers. We will have nap after lunch. Feel free to let your child stay or keep them with you and return after. The costume “parade” (around the neighborhood, will start at 2:45 pm for the Elementary students and at 3:00 pm for the preschool students. Please make sure your child’s costume is at the school by 2:30 pm so they can get dressed (no weapons as part of the costume please). Immediately following the “parade”, each teacher will have their own Halloween party in their classroom. Please see your classroom teacher for details.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What day is the festival?  

Friday, October 27th – begins at 9:00 am, chili feed during lunch, parade after naps, and class parties immediately following.

  1. What time is the chili feed?

This depends on your child’s classroom lunch schedule – it will be either 11:00 am or 11:45 am. Please see their teacher for further verification.

  1. Do we send the kids in their costume?

NO! Please send them in a bag with ALL items labeled with their name including the bag and their treat bag.

  1. What will happen if it rains? 

We will continue with the festival as planned BUT if it is raining during the parade time, they will simply wear their costumes to show off to their friends.

  1. My child’s costume has a weapon – is it ok for them to bring?

No weapons are allowed of any kind. They will be removed immediately and placed in the Director’s office until pick up.

  1. What time is the class party?

Class parties begin immediately following the parade. Elementary parade is at 2:45 and Preschool parade is at 3:00.

  1. Can we bring the items we signed up for before the class party? 

Yes, you are welcome to drop this off anytime next week, as long as it doesn’t require refrigeration.

  1. Does my child have to wear socks in the bounce house? 

YES! Even if your child does not need socks for their footwear on this day, PLEASE send a pair of socks with them, or they will NOT be able to bounce in the house.

  1. Where do we park? 

This is always a difficult task. PLEASE do NOT park in front of anyone’s driveways. Be mindful of the neighborhood traffic needing to navigate through the road. If you can carpool with friends/family to reduce the number of vehicles, please do. But be prepared to walk.

  1. Can we take our child with us during nap time?

You are more than welcome to take your child during nap time. But please be back in time for the parade if you want them to walk with their class. We do not recommend parents staying during nap time. This has not worked out well in the past.

 Can younger siblings and parents dress up also? 

Definitely! This is a fun and exciting day!!

Important Reminders:
Breakfast count ends at exactly 7:15 am.

Lunch count ends at exactly 8:30 am.
Key cards must be used to enter the building.
Students must be signed in and out daily on their classroom forms.

IMPORTANT:
We have a keyless entry system in place to provide a layer of protection for all students and staff. We ask that ALL parents or family members that pick up or drop off children have a key card available to use in order to reduce the number of times that a staff member has to open the door for people. There are multiple reasons for this:
 
1) Teachers cannot leave their students unattended even for a minute to run and open the door. This interrupts class time when they have to line up their students and go to the door to open it.
 
2) It becomes almost second nature to open the door to anyone that is knocking because we have to do it so frequently every day and never know anymore if it’s someone picking up or dropping off. 
The level of caution is greatly reduced because of the frequency of knockers.  If we know that all parents/family members have key cards and there is no reason for people to knock on the door, then we are more cautious and aware that those knocking are visitors.
 
3) Other parents are so used to people not having key cards that they are just allowing others to walk in with them without knowing if they are or are not to be in the school. 
 
4) It defeats the purpose of the system.
 
From this point forward, any family that knocks frequently, will be provided a card and have the $10 deposit charged to their account. The money will be due with the next tuition payment.
