Hello! My name is Kelsi Bassler. I have been working in the childcare field for 13 years and started with Kennedy Academy in February 2018 as the P2 Lead Teacher. I love watching young children grown into strong independent children. I look forward to getting to know the students and their families.

This month we will spend our weeks learning the letters H, I and J. Each week we will practice identifying them. Also during the week we will trace the letter and come up with things around the classroom that start with that letter.

During the summer we use Power Panther as our curriculum, it helps the children learn about MyPlate by introducing different types of fruits and vegetables. We are continuing doing our daily circle time and reviewing what we have learned through the school year. During the summer we are doing more science projects and getting a little messy by helping make a healthy snack out of our Power Panther curriculum every Friday!

This month we will be talking about different types of weather and our four seasons. This theme is two weeks long. The third week we will be talking about recycling and our Earth; we will be learning about the Earth and what we can do to help keep it clean. The fourth month we will be talking about plants; we will learn the different parts of a plant and what we need to make them grow. We are doing fun science experiments on fun Fridays in our classroom this month.

We are pleased to introduce Ms. Kelsi as the P2 Lead Teacher here at Kennedy Academy. She comes to us with 13 years’ experience in working with young children from facilities in both Lawrence and Topeka.

Ms. Kelsi loves watching young children grow into strong, independent individuals. She has a 15-month-old daughter of her own whose name is Addilyn. In her free time, she loves to color and do word searches. She loves the color green and her favorite flower is a lily.
