Language Arts:  We are going to be learning the “ch” sound, the “ar” sound, the “qu” and “wh” sounds.  At this point in the year the kids should know most individual letter sounds and we will start learning the more complicated sounds. Please help your child be successful with these new sounds and letter combinations by reviewing them at home.

Math:  We have started our fast math now and the kids are really enjoying it.  About half the class has made it to the “plus 2” page.  We will continue doing fast math this month.  I am excited to see how fast the kids get with their addition facts.  We are also going to be doing some measuring, graphing, and place value this month.

Science:   This month we are going to be learning about air, soil, and water.  We will be playing with things that float and learning about what floats and what doesn’t.  We are going to be playing in water and making boats this month.

Social Studies This month we will be learning about our great state- Kansas!  We will be learning the state bird, mammal, tree, etc.  We are also going to be learning about the history of Martin Luther King Jr.  and other famous people in history.
