Language Arts: This month we are going to be learning about the long vowel e and long vowel a with a silent e at the end.  During testing week we will be focusing on testing sight words and reading skills.

Math:  This month we are going to be starting subtraction.  Some of the kids will be finishing up their fast math addition and will move on to subtraction.  We are also going to continue working on place value.  This month we will also be starting word problems.  These are harder for the kids because they have to pick out the words that help them know what they are going to do, add or subtract.

Science:  This month we are going to be learning about the solar system.  The kids are going to be learning about the sun, the moon, and other planets.  We will be trying to learn all the planet names.

Social Studies:  We are going to be learning about the community helpers this month.  The kids will be learning about the different types of jobs that community helpers do and they will be discussing the type of job that they may want to have some day.  It is always fun to see what jobs each child wants to have when they grow up.
