Language Arts: This month we are going to be working on long vowel I (like “nine”), soft C (like ice), “ow” spelled OW and OU (like “cow”), and long vowel I spelled with a Y (like “my”). These sounds are more difficult than the previously learned sounds. Please study the spelling words at home to help with your child’s success at school.

Math: Math this month will include learning about fractions and subtraction, as well as the previous lessons, such as addition, telling time, and money addition. The student’s are doing very well with their fast math and are getting much faster. Some student’s will begin doing subtraction for fast math this month.

Science: This month we will be learning all about the seasons and weather. We will be discussing each season and the weather expected for that season. We are also going to be learning about natural disasters, such as tornadoes, hurricanes, and flooding.

Social Studies: This month we are going to be talking about our mothers. We will be learning about different moms and what makes each one special. We will also be making gifts for our mothers in celebration of Mother’s Day.

My name is Jessica Wilson. I have been working here at Kennedy Academy since 2006. I am the kindergarten teacher in the E4 classroom. I have my bachelors degree in elementary education from Emporia State University. I also have three children of my own.
