Language Arts:  This month the class will be learning about the soft C sound, like in the words “ice” and “nice.”  This can be a difficult sound for the class because it sounds like an S.   Please practice at home as well to help them remember that C has two sounds.  We are also going to be learning the “ow” sound, like in the words “cow” and “out.”  We are also doing more writing now.  The class will be focusing on writing correctly, using their best handwriting.

Math:  We are going to continue working in our math book.  The lessons are getting a little more difficult.  We will be focusing on fractions now and also learning about time and money.

Science/Social Studies:  This month we are continuing our lessons about weather and seasons.  The class will be learning different types of weather and what season they can expect to see that type of weather.  Although, we live in Kansas, so anything can happen.

We are also going to be talking about Easter and reading about Jesus and his death/life.  We will be reading from the Bible.  We will also be doing several Easter projects/crafts.

We are also learning about our Earth this month.  We are going to be focusing on how to help our Earth with the 3 R’s:  Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

Lastly, we will be starting our unit on plants.  We will be planting seeds in our classroom, as well as starting our school garden.  We are very excited about this because it gives the chance to watch different plants grow and then they can even try the foods that they grow.
