We are continuing learning new math concepts each month. We are also reviewing concepts all the time. A great way to help with this review is playing math games. This month I want to tell you how to change up a game we already learned. The game is TOP IT. In the regular game, you put a stack of number cards in the middle of two players and each turn over one card. The highest card holder gets to take both cards. The player with the most cards after the whole stack has been played, wins. In this change (ADDITION TOP IT), players draw two cards at the same time. Then each player adds up their two cards. The player with the highest total takes all four cards.

This months theme is Literature. We will be focusing this month on learning different types of literature, such as poetry, novels, short stories, etc. We will be learning about what an author does and what an illustrator does. We will be finding titles of books and learning about different popular authors, including Dr. Seuss. We will be learning about the writing process and how to write a book.
